OUR WINE

OUR VINEYARDS

Germany's smallest wine cultivation area stretches along the Elb valley: Saxony. Here the climatic conditions are favourable and Schloss Wackerbarth's wines grow and mature on the steep sun-kissed slopes at Dresden's gates.

A YEAR IN THE VINEYARD

For centuries the vintner has often been used as a metaphor in art, literature or philosophy for industriousness and human aspiration to cultivation. A vintner checks every vine seven times a year after all. True quality can only originate in the vineyard when such care is taken.

FROM THE VINE TO THE BOTTLE

Wine represents leisure, conviviality and pleasure. A bottle of wine must undertake a long journey before it reaches the consumer.

GRADES AND QUALITY LEVELS

The grade of a wine must be stated on the wine's label and is the most important of all legal requirements. Keeping to the fixed geographical origin, following established production conditions, cultivating particular varieties of vine or adhering to the limits for maximum yield per hectare are decisive factors. Every German wine must be declared with one of the quality standard marks.
